FaceSanBookSar

I spoke before about the two very different platform models embodied by Facebook and WordPress. Today’s post will take the Facebook perspective, present theories of how a Virtual Reality platform could be built using that model, then finish up by discussing the possible outcomes. I call it “Project FaceSanBookSar.”

It’s important to note that this post is also one of my “conjecture” essays. That means I have no insider knowledge or information, I just have a lifetime’s worth of experience doing stuff like this. Okay, disclaimer out of the way … let’s begin.

The Bridge to Project Sansar

Linden Lab is breaking out of their walled garden by devoting their efforts toward a new product, currently code-named Project Sansar. As high-tech product development efforts go, this one has all the secrecy and mystery of a good CIA Plot or a bad spy novel. Either way, without knowing any particulars of the project itself, we can make some very solid evaluations of their efforts and their chances of success. Perhaps even so far as to estimate how big any success might be.

I tend to have rather sharp-edged opinions on things. As a result sometimes I make people angry. One particular person I’ve successfully angered for quite a few years is a fellow Second Life Resident only with a lot more time “alive” here.
